The Gibran museum in Bsharri,
North Lebanon, is maintained by the Lebanese Gibran Committee.
It houses his original paintings and personal belongings contributed by his sister, Mary Haskell and Barbara Young following his death. The museum was an old monastery Gibran spoke of retiring in. The monastery was totally
transformed into a Gibran museum in 1975.
The museum is lying on a breathtaking mountain, surrounded by a green cedars forest overlooking the Valley of Quadisha, known as the "Valley of Saints", a very important UNESCO world heritage. The Venetian plastered walls and the rocky structure of the museum are proudly preserving the life and work of this extraordinary man.
A personal collection of nearly one hundred original works of art by Gibran were donated to the Telfair Museum of Art in Savannah in 1950 by Mary Haskell. Haskell's extraordinary gift to the Telfair is the largest public collection of Kahlil Gibran’s visual art in the USA, consisting of five oils and numerous works on paper rendered in the artist’s lyrical style, which reflects the influence of symbolism.
